Why This, Why Now

After 40+ years in project management and tech, I’m stepping into a new phase—and realizing that the most valuable thing I can offer isn’t more tools, but a way of thinking. This is where it starts, and why I’m choosing to share it now.

Why This, Why Now… and What I’ve Been Figuring Out

I’m at a point in my life where I’m stepping into retirement after more than 40 years in project management and technology.

And what I’ve realized is this…

I’ve spent a lifetime turning unclear, overwhelming and messy situations into clear goals, workable plans, and realistic outcomes.

I became really good at bringing order out of chaos.

Not just at work, but in my life too.

Over time, I didn’t just use project management, strategic thinking, and technology…I lived them.

Not in a corporate, rigid way, but in a personal, practical way.

A way that helps me deal with work and real-life challenges, decisions, and transitions in a clearer way.

I’m a huge movie buff. In the movie Lucy, when the main scientist was asked what to do with all the information that Lucy had accumulated. His answer, “pass it on”.

I want to share…to pass on…what I’ve lived, what I’ve learned. To help others turn their chaos and overwhelm into clarity and outcomes but in a way that works for them.

This is where I’ve been living for years

As a Project Management Office (PMO) leader and project manager, my job was never just about timelines and tasks. It was also to take what I know and teach, coach and mentor others in what I like to call “project thinking”.

Project thinking is all about how to bring clarity and structure to chaos and treat it as a project.

Not just at work but also in life. And that’s how I handle things in my life too.

Big decisions. Transitions. Reinvention. Experiments. All of it.

That’s what this space is

This site is where I’m exploring that idea and many more.

Not as an expert with all the answers. But as someone who’s been doing this work for a long time—and is now applying it in a different way.

What you’ll find here:

  • Insights and reflections about things I’ve lived through and learned that can hopefully help you or someone else

  • ideas I’m working through

  • tools I’m building

  • and ways I use AI to get things done - and how you can too.

Where this is going

One of the projects I’ve been working on is something called PM Lite AI Edition.

I wrote the original PM Lite back in 2012. Lots of things have changed since then and I thought it was time to upgrade PM Lite to reflect those changes.

I’ll share more about that in the next post.

For now…

If this sounds like something you’re interested in, then you’re in the right place.

This is just the beginning.
