The Project I’ve Been Working On

I’ve spent years watching people struggle with heavy processes and too much complexity. PM Lite started as a way to simplify project management back in 2012. This new AI Edition is the evolution of that idea—practical, lightweight, and built for how we actually work and live today.

The Project I’ve Been Working On: PM Lite AI Edition

As a Project Management Office (PMO) Director, I saw - and was even complicit in creating - very heavy, document-laden project management processes and tools. It made sense at the time.

But when we introduced it to the people who actually had to use it, they all said the same thing: “Too much process, too many documents, too much overwhelm. We want just enough to get the job done”.

That didn’t exist, so I created it. This became Project Management Lite: Just Enough to Get the Job Done, published in 2012.

It was well received, with thousands of copies purchased.

Fast forward to 2025 and beyond and the world has changed drastically. Remote work. Hybrid teams. And, of course, AI.

Life has gotten more complicated. Not less.

People are juggling:

  • work responsibilities

  • personal commitments

  • ideas they want to pursue

  • and now… AI tools on top of everything else.

There’s more capability than ever, but also more confusion.

More noise…and more urgency to learn and apply AI.

So, I rebuilt PM Lite for today.

It’s called Project Management Lite AI Edition, built on the original 2012 version. With AI as a support tool - not the driver.

Who this is for

This is for people who:

  • aren’t project managers

  • don’t want to become project managers

  • but still need a way to get things done

At work. At home. In the middle of a work or life transition.

What it helps you do

PM Lite AI Edition helps you:

  • get clear on what you’re actually trying to do

  • turn scattered thoughts into an actionable plan

  • and use AI in a way that supports you instead of overwhelming you

Why this matters to me

This isn’t just a tool.

It’s a reflection of how I’ve learned to think, work, and navigate change over time.

And now feels like the right time to share it.

What’s next

In the next post, I’ll talk more about the idea behind all of this… something I call project thinking.

Because that’s really what ties everything together.

For now…

Take a look if you’re curious. Or don’t.

The choice is yours.
